That Time I saw a TicTac UFO as a Kid

“As I leaned down to examine the object that had been jettisoned from the TicTac-shaped vehicle, my consciousness began to fade and I experienced what I can only describe as missing time.”

That Time I saw a TicTac UFO as a Kid

My first contact experience happened like I imagine most other people’s do, as an extraordinary event on an otherwise ordinary day.

(Note: Photos in this story are representative, no images exist of this sighting.)

I remember playing as a child just outside our rural Midwestern home on the back patio while my mother was in the adjacent kitchen chatting on the telephone. As I watched a line of ants make their way through the quartz gravel that landscaped the patio, I remember glancing up and witnessing something I couldn’t fully make sense of. I saw an silent, elliptical “airplane” (because anything in the sky was an airplane to me at that age) hovering nearby. I don't know where it came from or how long it had been there observing me, if in fact it was. It made no sound so I only noticed it when it became very close. The craft’s linear distance from me was around 80-ft away, as recently verified using Google Earth, and the height at which it was hovering was maybe only 20-feet above a large willow tree in the neighbor’s yard that it was passing directly over. I recall being fascinated by this, because as a child, I was afraid of the loud sound airplane and jet engines made and would always run inside or hide next to my parents when a traditional aircraft of any sort flew overhead, even jetliners at altitude. This craft made no sound, literally NO sound, so I was happy to be able to watch an "airplane" up close for the very first time. I wasn't frightened at all and enjoyed the event.

The craft itself was about the size of a box van, had a very smooth matte white/silver semi-reflective surface, I consider it an oval or ellipse, but I had never seen another image of a craft like this one in photos or on any UFO shows until the “TicTac” vehicle from the Nimitz Encounter was popularized. There were no lights, no windows nor doors, no wings nor exhaust.

As it continued at what I would say was a brisk walking pace, it eventually crossed over the roadway out front and continued over an open field. The field had already been harvested, I remember there only being dried plant debris remaining. At that moment, I saw what I remember to be a basketball-shaped object fall from the bottom of the craft and land in the field approximately 200-feet from where I first spotted the craft. It fell at about the speed any object that was dropped would free fall, no slower or faster than gravity. I moved towards the ball-shaped object and unfortunately do not remember seeing the craft again, I think I was fixated on locating the object. I know this was real and not a dream or otherwise because to this day I remember the feeling of anxiety in my chest, not from the object, but from crossing the road by myself, something I was never allowed to do at that age, not even to get the mail, but my curiosity was overwhelming. I easily found the spherical device, and as I leaned down to examine the object that had been jettisoned from the TicTac-shaped vehicle, my consciousness began to fade and I experienced what I can only describe as missing time. I have no further recollection of the object and only remember being back on the patio after an unknown amount of time, tho I know it wasn't much later because it wasn't noticeably darker and my mother wasn't worried about where I’d been. As my mother slid open the glass patio door I anxiously told her that I had seen an airplane and had even found part of it in the field. She humored me for a moment and brought me inside and the event was forgotten.

Later, I had several experiences seeing silhouetted figures in our home, and only two summers ago had a second potential visitor/missing time event. My sisters, and later, nieces and nephews, would describe a variety of their own sightings and visitor events. Those are stories for another day...
